NONGPOH: Aimed at sensitising general public on Consumer Right, the Bosco Integrated Development Society (BIDS) in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Ri Bhoi district on Tuesday observed the World Consumer Rights Day 2018 in which the awareness programme was organised at Iewmawlong here.
The awareness programme was attended by resource persons, I. Dkhar, Inspector of the Legal Metrology department, KS Kurbah, Inspector of the Supply department Cristo Fancon, Elizabeth Naik, BIDS Coordinator, A Kharkongngor, headman of Iewmawlong and Herroi Nongrum, Block Coordinator of Umling Block Livelihood Intervention Facilitating Entrepreneur Project.
Addressing the gathering, resource person enlightened the people on their basic right as the consumer which they can exercise when purchasing any commodities. The consumer rights also enable the consumer to avail information regarding their ration within the IAY and BPL scheme and the rate they were entitled as the beneficiary.
The resource persons also raised concern over the daily affairs where the consumer was taken advantages regarding the weight of the commodities they purchase, in which the resource persons urged the public to exercise their rights and voice their grievances to the Consumer Forum department which is located in every district of the state.
However, other activities of the celebration include the rally from the students of Nomiwell Memorial Secondary School, Nongpoh displaying various wording relating to consumer rights, the programme was also enthralled by the short skit performed by the student of Martin Luther University and also the dance performed by the local youths of Marmain village.
