SHILLONG: Concerned over the extravagant expenditure on fishery pond and Inspection Bungalow, HSPDP MDC Mansturdy Nongrem said there was no need of spending huge amount on these.
“What is the need of setting up an IB? Who are the people residing there,” asked Nongrem while criticising the council for the expenditure.
UDP MDC T. Dkhar said there is only one pond that is used by the MDCs for fishing.
Executive Member of the council BB Warjri revealed that there are slips which showed the number of MDCs who go fishing in Lailad.
Elaborating on the construction works, he said the bungalow at Lailad was renovated in 2010 at a sanction amount of Rs 10 lakh.
