Newborn body recovered
On March 31 around 9.45 am, the body of a newborn was recovered from the riverside at Umpling, Lumdiengmet, Shillong. Necessary formalities have been observed and the cadaver was sent to Civil Hospital for PM examination.
Theft
Swapan Baruah of DAD Quarters, Demseiniong, Shillong lodged a complaint that on April 6 around 2.30 pm, miscreants stole one mobile phone and one tablet phone from his quarter.
Chandan Phukan lodged a complaint that in the first week of April, miscreants broke into his house and stole one cell-phone, Rs. 6,000 cash, ATM card, one digital camera etc. from his residence at Happy Valley.
Bablu Sharma lodged a complaint that on April 4 around 7.30 pm, Aman Thakuri was caught while stealing a music system from his bus (ML-05C-2093), which was parked at Demseiniong. The accused also attempted to pull out the vehicles’ battery.
Meban Lamphrang Mukhim lodged a complaint that on March 30, miscreants stole one motorcycle from KD office at Nonghyllam village, South West Khasi Hills.
Man with country guns apprehended
Neini Bareh, president, Village Defence Party (VDP), East Jaintia Hills and one other lodged a complaint that they have apprehended Enam Uddin for possessing country made guns. On April 5 around 7 pm, they were informed that some persons were engaged in illegal arms and ammunition smuggling. Later, during search at Sutnga Pohwailong, Uddin was found to be in possession of one country-made shotgun and one country-made pistol.
Fake gold seized
On April 4, Police arrested two persons namely Ramesh Sangma and Joseph at Polo Bazar and recovered fake gold (250 grams) from their possession.
Man assaulted
On April 3 around 10.30 pm, miscreants assaulted Wallambor Syiemlieh (34) at Mission Compound, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was admitted at CH Shillong.
Woman prohibited from using public vehicles
A woman and her daughter were allegedly forbidden from travelling in public vehicles by the village headman. Suk Pyrtuh of Sohmynthing village, West Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that on April 3 at 9.30 am, she along with her daughter were planning to proceed to Jowai, however, most of the drivers of passenger vehicles refused to let them board their vehicles, stating that the Headman of the village, Dapoi Pyrtuh had warned them.
Son threatens mother
Planty Chadong of Umkiang village (East Jaintia Hills) lodged a complaint that on April 2 at 6.30 pm, her son Micky Chadong created nuisance and also threatened her with dire consequences.
Eloped
Dolindro Sangma of Thapa Rongdopa, North Garo Hills lodged a complaint that on March 24, his wife fled away, reportedly with Sengkan Marak.
