Meghalaya engages WAPCOS to make DPR of irrigation project

SHILLONG: The Minister of Water Resources, Metbah Lyngdoh informed that the state government had sent a proposal for providing Them Lyngkien and Them Lyngiong with Irrigation system and the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Them Lyngkien Water Resources Project had been allotted to WAPCOS Ltd, a government of India Public Sector Undertaking.

In a circulated reply in the state Assembly, the minister to a question raised by Independent MLA, SK Sunn, stated that the submission of DPR for the project was being awaited.

At present, a Preliminary Survey and Investigation of Them Lyngiong Irrigation Project is underway.

In a supplementary reply, the Minister said that there was no target date as some process had to be followed by the department and WAPCOS to carry out investigation and survey as far as the programme was concern.

He added that WAPCOS had submitted a draft DPR of the project.
