Nongstoin MLA wants both offline, online applications

NONGSTOIN: Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat on Friday petitioned the Deputy Commissioner West Khasi Hills District to intervene into the matter of online application of the District Selection Committee, Nongstoin.
In a letter sent to the DC, Macmillan said that while there is a need to equip oneself with the latest gadgets and innovative ideas in such modern and demanding times, there is also a need to have offline application.
“I feel responsible to bring to your notice that the system of online application without the option of the offline application has its own drawback” Byrsat said.
He also added that the internet connectivity is exceedingly poor in many areas of West Khasi Hills and the system of online submission of application/ payment is something new to the rural population of the district. The MLA also said that the “abrupt change” without respecting the old system is not advisable.
The legislator said that online application can be made available along with the offline option to ease the anxiety of the aspiring applicants.
