GUWAHATI: Assam government has set a target to build 8000 Km of rural road till May 2019 under PMGSY in tune with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision of laying good quality roads in every village of Assam.
At the same time, the Central government has released funds for the development of National Highways and construction of more bridges on the Barak and Brahmaputra rivers. “This step of the Centre would bring about unprecedented revolution in the connectivity of the state,” Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said.
Moreover, under the direction of Prime Minister Modi to ensure quality health care delivery system to every individual at tea garden areas, mobile medical units have been introduced. Besides, the State government has decided to pay Rs. 2000 every month for a period of six months to every pregnant women belonging to tea community.
Spnowal informed that to hone the sporting talents of youths belonging to tea tribe community, Assam government for the second consecutive year has organised CM’s cup Inter-Tea Garden football tournament.
Moreover, during demonetization period as an incentive to opening of bank account by the tea garden workers, the state government has already deposited Rs. 2500 to each of these bank accounts and upon regular maintenance of the accounts another Rs. 2500 will be credited to their accounts.
For encouraging connectivity among the tea garden workers, smart phone will be provided to each Line Sardars and accordingly budgetary allocation has been made in this year’s budget. Moreover, at the instance of State government Rs. 99 crore has been released for 15 tea garden under Assam Tea Corporation for releasing arrear salary of staff.
Chief Minister Sonowal also said that for the empowerment of women, government has launched Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Achoni and under the scheme Rs. 25000 will be given to each self-help group.
