LPG panchayats held at Naringgre and Songsak in EGH

TURA: LPG Panchayats were held on Friday at Naringgre and Songsak playground in East Garo Hills as part of the nationwide celebration of ‘Ujjwala Diwas’ by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), under the aegis of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan during which, the enrollment of 200 PMUY connections was acheived.

The LPG panchayat was organized by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) with support from Shira Indane Gramin Vitarak and Jim’s Flame.

By observing the day, the successful promotion of the safe and sustained use of LPG amongst rural consumers was achieved through peer group interactions on a large scale. The aim of the Ujjwala Diwas was also to meet the enhanced target of enrolling 8 crore LPG beneficiaries to eligible beneficiaries through these panchayats.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, 15000 panchayats were organized on the day, targeting the participation of 500 women and the enrollment of 100 connections in each panchayat.

The programme also created awareness on the safety and utility of LPG, health benefits of using clean fuel and women participants were informed about the details of PMUY categories.
