FKJGP calls on CM to look into issues plaguing Rajabala

TURA: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) in Rajabala has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma urging him to look into various issues pertaining to the region.

Apprising the Chief Minister about the poor health facility in the area, the federation sought setting up of a public health centre (PHC) at Bhajamara to cater to the local people’s needs, including other villages like Melagre, Kasigre, Kasimati, Kagagre, Asimgre, Kitkipara, Mangchim, Chandakona, Balachanda and Khilbhui.

Informing that student community from the area are facing hardships in getting admission in colleges post matric, the federation called for the setting up of a degree college comprising of Arts, Science and Commerce streams at Balachanda II.

With regard to roads, the federation sought the re-construction of the deplorable Tikrikilla to Rajabala-Halidayganj (Singgimari) road and the Rajabala-Selsella-Garobadha road. It also requested that the Rajabala-Chandrapatar-Ramjonggre-Selsella PWD Road and the Rajabala-Chandrapatar-Gatjing Bazar road are constructed without delay.

Stating that there is grave shortage of water in the area, the federation sought that drinking water supply facility is also provided for the people.

Other demands of the federation included the speeding up of construction of the Selsella Nokatgre Bridge and Selsella Simbukolgre bridge, on which work has been delayed for a decade, to bring a solution to the low voltage and erratic power supply problem being experienced in the area and to take immediate steps to preserve and promote the Wadagokgre heritage site as a tourist destination.
