Centre grants Rs 480.87 crore to Assam for flood damage

GUWAHATI:  A meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) for Central Assistants chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday  granted Rs 480.87 Crore to Assam that was affected by flood during 2017-18, according to an official source here.

The HLC meeting approved Central Assistance to states and Union Territories affected by natural calamities like flood, landslides, drought etc., during 2017-18  including Assam (flood), Himachal Pradesh (flood and landslides), Sikkim (flood and landslides), Lakshadweep (cyclone Ockhi) and Rsajasthan (kharif drought)

The HLC also approved assistance from NDRF amounting to Rs 84.60 crore for the Himachal Pradesh, Rs 67.40 crore for Sikkim, Rs 2.16 crore for the UT of Lakshadweep and Rs 526.14 crore for Rajasthan. The total assistance approved was Rs 1,161.17 crores including Rs 480.87 crore to Assam.

The Union Minister for Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Union Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Ajay Narayan Jha and senior officers of the Ministries of Home Affairs, Finance and Agriculture and NITI Aayog attended the meeting.
