SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said the government will wait for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to finalise the Village Administration Bill (VAB).
“The KHADC is working on it and it will come up with certain points and once these are ready they will have a discussion with the government, we are waiting for that,” Sangma told reporters on Tuesday after the tripartite meeting of the government, KHADC and Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep.
KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem said it would coordinate with the District Council Affairs and the Law Departments  before passing it in the session District Council.
“Before bringing the Bill to the session of the district council it should be in complete form so that it can be passed directly to the DCA and send it to the Governor,” Syiem said.
There was also discussion on the conflicting issues between the state government and districts because of Para 12 A (a) as the central government is in the process to amend the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The KHADC, the Synjuk and the state government will discuss the amendment to the Sixth Schedule and send suggestions accordingly.
