SHILLONG: The headman of Harijan Panchayat Committee has petitioned Governor Ganga Prasad urging him to lift the curfew during the day besides intensifying security in the area.
The memorandum submitted to the chief minister said until curfew is lifted and security intensified, “the livelihood of the safai karamcharis (sweepers) will be jeopardized”. They also told the governor about the incident that took place at Punjabi Lane and Motphran a few days back.
