MLCU organises seminar

Shillong: With the objective to explore and discuss conceptual framework for a centre in social change and justice in the university and at the community level, the Department of Social Work, MLCU organised a seminar, ‘Social Change and Justice: Implication and Significance on the Youth,’ on the university premises on Thursday.
Resource persons, Stan Thekkekara and Mari Thekkekara addressed the various issues of social injustice in the country and stressed on the fact that social justice and overall development should go hand in hand.
Presentations were made by the faculty members including Relevance of Social Change and Justice in Public Health by Nandaris Marwein; Relevance of Social Change and Justice by Dr Ardonister Lyngdoh; Social Change photography by Clinton Massar and Relevance of Culture in Understanding Social Justice by Dr Fabian Lyngdoh, Head, Department of Cultural and Community Initiatives.
The seminar was attended by the Chancellor Dr G.C Kharkongor, Vice Chancellor Dr V.T Darlong; Editor of The Shillong Times Patricia Mukhim and former Project Director MBDA Daniel Ingty, along with the faculty and students from the department.
