Many rioters aged between 18 & 20

SHILLONG: After reports of minors involved in the clashes with police, the East Khasi Hills police are probing into the matter. According to an FIR lodged by SP (city) Stephan Rynjah, on June 1, among the persons who attacked him and a team of policemen also included a 17-year-old juvenile from Lumparing, Kynjat Phutbol, and it was revealed when the group appeared on the CCTV screen three days later. The juvenile was part of the 14-member group that attacked police personnel. When contacted, chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Meena Kharkongor said she would  seek a report from the East Khasi Hills SP regarding the involvement of minors, if any. According to the complaint, around 6.30 pm on June 1 while Rynjah was performing duty along with other police personnel and magistrate at Mawkhar area, they were attacked by an unruly mob, thereby disturbing peace and tranquility in the city and during the time of disturbance, Rynjah was injured and was shifted to Civil Hospital for medical treatment. On June 4, around 4.30 pm, while Rynjah was at Police Control Room, the same mob appeared on the CCTV screen, thereby violating the curfew order

A police team was dispatched and arrested 14 persons in their twenties, including the minor. All of them were from Lumparing, Kynjat Phutbol. According to police reports, there were boys between the age of 18 and 20 who were part of the mob and subsequently they were arrested.
