5 years on, ILP damage suit yet to be disposed of

SHILLONG: The hearing on the Rs 31-crore damage suit pending before the Special Court will begin soon.
An official dealing with the case said hearing on the matter is likely to start by this month.
It was informed that there was no hearing since December-January this year after the magistrates hearing the matter were transferred.
Officials also said that as of now, few witnesses were examined in the case and there are around 50 witnesses who are to be examined.
In 2013, the state government had filed the damage suit in the Special Court seeking compensation of over Rs 31.09 crore from as many as 14 pressure groups for the damages and loss of private property, both individual and community-owned, and government property caused during the ILP agitation.
