Security forces apprehend 2 overground workers of NSCN-IM in Arunachal

GUWAHATI: Delivering yet another blow to NSCN (IM), the security forces conducted a successful operation in Niausa village on June 12 apprehending two overground workers of the Naga rebel group NSCN-IM, a defence source informed.

Apek Wangsu and Mary Wangsu, both overground workers of NSCN(IM), were apprehended based on specific intelligence about extortion in Niausa village. The security forces swiftly launched a mobile vehicle check post, the suspected individuals were moving on a motorcycle trying to take the extortion money to the cadres of the banned outfit but the troops were alert to the situation and apprehended them with large amount of extortion money hidden in a bag. Post spot interrogation they admitted allegiance to NSCN (IM) and their involvement in extortion activities in Longding district.

Security Forces have apprehended a number of NSCN (K), NSCN (IM), NSCN(R), NSCN (U), ULFA (I), cadres and OGWs since the beginning of this year through sustained operation in South Arunachal Pradesh areas.
