West Garo Hills gears up with plans for poll roll revision activities

 TURA:  As part of the preparatory measures for the forthcoming General Parliamentary Elections, the District of West Garo Hills Tura is gearing up with various plans and effective strategies for the conduct of pre-revision activities with special focus on those polling areas, sections or villages or localities where there is considerably substantial gap of electors to be enrolled.

In this connection, training for Booth Level Officers (field level functionaries of ECI) is being conducted from June 12 to 15 in batches. They shall conduct house to house field verification from June 15 to July 10 for enrolment of eligible citizens, deletion of dead voters besides corrections and transpositions of registered electors. Special attention shall be paid to one important aspect of elections, inclusive participation without discrimination, which shall be for enrolment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Besides, a meeting with Political Parties was held on June 12 which was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura Ram Singh in order to appraise the Official Representative of political parties on various initiatives, plans and strategies including their cooperation and dissemination on the developments to the general public through their political workers in their respective polling areas.

The approved schedule details for revision activities are House to House Field Verification by BLOs on June 15 (Friday) to July 10 (Tuesday) and Publication of Draft Photo Electoral Rolls on September 1 (Saturday).

Meanwhile, the Period for filing of Claims and Objections will be on September 1 (Saturday) to October 31 (Wednesday), Disposal of Claims and Objections will be done before November 30 (Friday) and Final Publication of Photo Electoral Rolls will be done on January 10 2019 (Thursday).
