SHILLONG: The youth wing of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has raised its suspicions on the recently declared results for the post of watchman at the office of the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
In a statement issued here, the KHNAM youth wing president Thomas Passah said the FCI invited applications for the post of 19 watchmen but only one Khasi applicant was selected out of 57 shortlisted names.
KHNAM maintained that central offices within the jurisdiction of the state should give preference to unemployed youth of Meghalaya.
They also met the general manager of the FCI and sought explanation on why more Khasis candidates did not make it to the list.
The KHNAM has urged the state government to come up with legislation for reserving more jobs for the youth of the state especially in the Grade IV category.
