Seminar
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Lady Keane College, Shillong in association with Meghalaya Basin Development Authority is organising a two-day national seminar on “Environment Consciousness and Sustainability: Know Globally and Act Locally” on June 20 and 21. The inaugural function will be held at 10 am on June 20 in the college auditorium. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will be the Chief Guest.
Event
The Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban started the 11th Inter-Shillong Cultural event on June 17 where it organised programmes like Rabindra Sangeet competition ,folk song & dance on Tagore Song Competition. Altogether 93 participants took part. On June 24, a marathon , art, rangoli, fun games, essay and quiz competition will be held at Quenie Secondary School, Laban.
Entrance test
IGNOU is conducting Entrance Tests for Management Programmes (Openmat-xliii), on June 24 from 10 am to 1 pm at IGNOU RC Shillong, NEHU campus. The hall-tickets can be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in.
Yoga camp
Taal Academy which is known for imparting training in dance, fine arts and fitness in collaboration with Heartfullness – Through Meditation, Joy, is organising a free yoga camp which is open for all, on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21 at the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Bomfyle Road (Next to All India Radio) Shillong, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
Weather
warning
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning whereby heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya on June 19 and 20 and heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 21 and 22.
World record attempt
The Rotary Sohra Marathon Committee appraised Assembly Speaker Donkupar Roy on a world record marathon attempt to be held on August 25. The Speaker gave his blessing to the organizers and extended his support for the success of the event.
