6 ULFA militants give up with arms ,ammunition

GUWAHATI: A group of six militants belonging to the banned United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) on Thursday surrendered before Assam Police with sophisticated weapons and ammunition.

Informing this Assam Police claimed that the ULFA (I) cadres had surrendered after getting disillusioned with the activities and attitude of their leaders. The ULFA (I) cadres were fed up with their leaders’ activities like abduction of indigenous workers of tea gardens, destroying the tea industry in Assam, difficulties faced by cadres lodged in Myanmar camps and the indifferent attitude of their leaders towards resolving their problem. The ULFA-I cadres lodged in Myanmar are finding it difficult to enter Assam because of heavy presence of security forces along the border.

The militants surrendered were : Pranab Gogoi alias Suklang Asom,  Apurba Moran alias Mridu Asom, Satyajit Moran alias Manab Asom,  Jishu Doley alias Syang Asom , Rituraj Moran alias Durlav Asom and Abhijit Gohain alias Anuj Asom.

The weapons surrendered by the militants include one AK 56 assault rifle, one MQ 81 rifle, HK 33 Rifle, two Chinese grenades, eight magazines, 301 rounds of live ammunition.
