SHILLONG: Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla expressed his concern on women not using the Women Helpline number-181 especially in the rural areas.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, the minister said, “People are not aware of the helpline number. I want the helpline number to be known and awareness should be spread about the helpline.”
He added that department of Social Welfare is creating awareness about the helpline number especially in villages.
“We also want to know the reason why people don’t use the helpline number. Probably because the police station is near or that the people don’t feel the need of using the number,” Shylla said. (Contd on P-10)
