Jacob’s death condoled

SHILLONG: The members of Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre (SNGCC), Shillong, in a meeting on Sunday condoled the demise of former governor of Meghalaya MM Jacob.
Recalling his days here being the longest serving Governor of the state, Jacob was remembered for his contacts with one and all irrespective of their affiliations. “He united humanity and was always open to the cause of the people. He remained dedicated to his work till his very end. His long stint as the Governor of Meghalaya got him much popularity in the hill state,” said MK Mohanan, president of SNGCC.
Late Jacob was so committed that once he cancelled all his official engagements to attend a function of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, by giving his consent at the last moment from his retiring room, the SNGCC chief said.
Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek has condoled the death of MM Jacob.
He said that his family was close to Jacob.
He also said that a special condolence service was held for Jacob in Pynthorumkhrha Parish Church for departed soul.
