SHILLONG: Border Security Force (BSF) Director General, K K Sharma said that the Union Government was taking all steps to counter radicalization in the country

Talking to media persons here on   Friday,   Director General K K Sharma said that radicalization of Islam was a worldwide phenomenon   because of the misuse of social media.

Responding to a query, he said now a days, a person did not need to come to residence of someone to brain wash somebody and people could brainwash somebody through   doctored videos,   and inflammatory literatures

“This process is dangerous and Government of India alive to the situation,” he said

The BSF will use drones to know the border areas in a much better way but however, the drones are mostly meant for   western borders than eastern borders.

Maintaining that Pakistan is a hostile neigbhour who is trying to create trouble for India, the BSF DG  added that they unsuccessfully  tried to divide the country through Khalistan movement in which they failed and now they were a trying to divide the country through Jammu &Kashmir issue.

He also informed that  BSF has asked for many more new battalions but the Union Government has sanctioned only  six  battalions out of which four are earmarked for integrated check posts like Wagah and other  two are reserved battalions which are meant for law and order duties
