SHILLONG: At a time when ministers and MLAs zoom their way on the roads with blaring sirens, Health and Welfare Minister AL Hek has gifted Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malniang a bicycle.
The minister presented the bicycle at the inaugural function for a health sub-centre at Laitkor Rngi on Saturday with an aim to promote healthy lifestyle.
The health sub-centre will fall under Smit PHC.
Leonard Arun Mawrie, the chairman of Dorbar Laitkor Pyllun, said the inauguration of the health sub-centre is blessing as it has been delayed for the last 12 years. “It will be beneficial for the residents who do not have the necessary finances to go to Shillong or Smit for treatment,” he said. Meanwhile, B Mawlong, Director of Health Service (MI) said the sub-centre will house two auxiliary nurse midwives and a security guard.
