Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday sought help from veteran film actor Amol Palekar in charting out a roadmap for the development of Assamese film industry.
The Bollywood actor met the chief minister on Sunday morning and talked on a wide range of issues concerning Assamese cinema.
As films are the best means to represent the state to the world, Sonowal requested Palekar to use his experience for the promotion of regional cinemas and assured him that the entire film fraternity of Assam would be with him in this journey, an official release from the chief minister’s office said.
“They also talked on a Film Policy for Assam which will essentially act as a guide line for taking Assamese cinema forward,” the CMO statement said.
Palekar appreciated the will and initiative of Sonowal for taking substantial policy decisions for the development of Assamese cinema to enable people to look at the heritage of the state through cultural lens, the statement claimed.
Assam State Film Finance Development Corporation (ASFFDC) chairman Jatin Bora and ASFFDC vice chairman Abhijit Kumar Nath were also present during the discussion. (PTI)
