NASA, ISRO scientists to take part in IIT-G fest

GUWAHATI: Scientists from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Indian Space Research Organisation will take part in a panel discussion of IIT Guwahati’s annual techno-management fest, Techniche, on September 1.

The scientists will chair a discussion on the latest developments in space science and technology.

The topic of the discussion is “Space Colonisation – Does a future await us light years away?” It will be centred on mankind’s attempts at setting up space colonies and the feasibility of such a venture.

Space colonisation has been much-discussed topic in the field of astronomy for years now and through this panel discussion, IIT Techniche aims to share its nitty gritty among a widespread audience in the presence of notable scientists working in the domain.

The panelists will share their views on the agenda as they seek to unravel the aura of space colonisation.

This is the 20th edition of the annual techno-mangement fest of IIT-Guwahati. The event will be held from August 30 to September 2 on the institute’s North Guwahati campus.

The events during Techniche will include workshops, technical exhibitions, guest lectures, technical competitions, literary events including Model United Nations.

“This is a proud moment for us as the Techniche IIT Guwahati takes a huge step forward with our first ever panel discussion. We are honoured to have distinguished individuals from NASA and ISRO as our panelists,” Purvish Shah, convener of Techniche 2018, said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.

A lecture series, industrial conclave, technical workshops, robotic competitions, technical exhibitions, pro-nites, the Guwahati Half Marathon among others are events that comprise the fest.
