New DGP: UPSC may shortlist names this week

SHILLONG: The Union Public Service Commission may shortlist three names sometime this week to enable the state government to appoint a new DGP, an official said on Sunday.
The state government had already sent several names of senior IPS officers of Assam-Meghalaya cadre to the UPSC according to the recent order of the Supreme Court.
The government had proposed the names of officers till the 1986 batch for appointment.
SB Singh, who was given extension for three months, will retire on July 31.
