SHILLONG: Former BJP candidate for South Tura Billykid Sangma said on Monday that he sacrificed his seat so that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma can ensure his victory in the by-poll and develop the constituency.
“I am not contesting. I am sacrificing my seat for the chief minister so that there will be overall development in South Tura as the previous Mukul Sangma-led government did not do anything,” Billykid said.
In the February 27 Assembly polls, Billykid came second securing 4,896 votes. The winner, Agatha Sangma, had polled 6,499 votes.
