SHILLONG: The C&RD Department has got more power with the approval of its proposal for the Meghalaya Community Rural Development Services and Meghalaya Community Rural Engineering Services.
After Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the proposal was pending for a long time but the previous government did not dare to take a decision.
“Now the government has taken a decision despite the fact that it will have huge financial implications,” he added.
Under the Meghalaya Community Rural Engineering Services, the department will now have its own service and staff cadre from the level of gram sevak, junior engineers, assistant engineers and BDOs.
Till date, officers at any level were taken on deputation from other departments.
