Kohima: Two top officials from Andhra Pradesh will pay a two-day visit to Nagaland soon to discuss the matter related to ban of formalin treated fishes, which were detected recently by the State health officials.
Official sources said, the two officials from the department of fishes of the Andhra Pradesh Government will arrive in Kohima on a two-day visit soon, where they would meet officials from the state health department and discuss the matter in regard to the ban of formalin fishes, mostly imported from Andhra Pradesh.
The two officials who are expected to land in the State soon are commissioner of fisheries Rama Sankar Naik and deputy director of fisheries Dhanunjaya of Andhra Pradesh. Sources said, currently the State health department is investigating the matter and till now fishes imported from outside have been banned.
The two officials from Andhra Pradesh have also visited Assam and Meghalaya and discussed the issue with their counterparts and health officials.
In last two weeks, Nagaland Government seized huge quantity of formalin treated fishes, most of them from Andhra Pradesh. Several states in the country have banned the formalin treated fishes, which has hit hard the fish industry in Andhra Pradesh. (UNI)
