Guv visits JH village famous for smoked fish

JOWAI: Governor Ganga Prasad on Thursday paid a visit to Umladkur village in West Jaintia Hills under Amlarem civil sub-division.
The remote village is famous for its smoked fish called Kha Rang which is in high demand in the state.
The governor inspected the smoked fish kitchens and lauded the initiative taken by the district administration to offer technical help to those producing smoked fish.
Prasad also addressed the crowd at the village and the village authority also submitted a memorandum seeking financial assistance for developmental activities. He was accompanied by district officials including the superintendent of police and the deputy commissioner.
Earlier, the governor also held a meeting with the heads of various government departments in Jowai. The meeting, attended by head of government departments, discussed various central schemes and their implementation in the district.
