NEIAH Director files complaint against KHNAM
SHILLONG: The Director of North East Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) has filed a police complaint stating that the KHNAM State Youth Wing, Jaiaw, on July 18 has threatened to disrupt the re-written examination for the various posts, scheduled to be held from August 23 to 29 if their demands are not met. When contacted, police said that security will be provided in the institute to ensure that no one disrupts the examination.

SD Khongwir praises Conrad ahead of by-poll
SHILLONG: Former Deputy Chief Minister S D Khongwir praised Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is set to contest the South Tura-by poll on August 23. Khongwir, while appreciating the deft handling of the Shillong unrest by the chief minister, said the win in South Tura will further strengthen his hands.Khongwir said the chief minister made a difference in his approach to deal with varied problems.

Pregnant woman bitten by snake
SHILLONG: On Friday around 9 am, a snake bite case was reported from Nohron in Mawkynrew. The victim, a pregnant woman identified as Rophina Lynshang (34) complained of snake bite on her right foot, was conscious and oriented with swelling of right leg. She was given necessary pre-hospital care and shifted to Smit PHC by 108 Smit based ambulance.

Students to be awarded
SHILLONG: Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural Organisation in collaboration with the State Government launched the 15th Meritorious Award for Student 2018. The students who have achieved 1st division in various exams such as SSLC/HSSLC/ICSE/CBSE/ISC/DEGREE/PG/DIPLOMA will be conferred with Award. This Award is also conferred to the Specially Abled/Poor Dropout students who have passed out in any division. Forms will be available at the office of the Organization c/o Sanbor Shullai MLA and president of the organisation at New Kench’s Trace Shillong from 7 am to 11 am daily.

Seminar for civil services exam
WILLIAMNAGAR: The District administration of East Garo Hills and the Planning Department organised a seminar on “How to Prepare for Civil Services Exam” at DRDA Hall No.1, Williamnagar on Friday, where a good number of civil service aspirants participated. The resource person for the seminar, V Ravindra Babu, Director of Nagarjuna IAS Academy, New Delhi, dwelling on the topic, urged the participants to choose the right combination of subjects and dedicate themselves and their valuable times for preparations.

Hamlet inspects Solid Waste Management in Ri Bhoi
NONGPOH: The Urban Affairs Minister, Hamlet Dohling assured that the Solid Waste Management constructed at Umshangling village under Nongpoh Town will soon be commissioned for the benefit of people in the town. Dohling was accompanied by Engineer In-chief of Urban Affairs, Edel War and others officers from Urban Affair. He also said that the project was bid delayed as there is no connection of electricity and now we have been installed the transformer on the site and the department has also bought the generator as an alternative use for recycling the waste products in absent of electricity.
