Thief escapes from custody

TURA: An under-trial prisoner escaped from police custody on Sunday afternoon in Ampati town of South West Garo Hills.
The accused, Dulu Sheik of Naribhita village in Mankachar, was arrested for stealing a goat.
He was being shifted in the UTP van at Ampati police station when he broke free and escaped around 2 pm. The police personnel present there went after him but could not catch him.
The accused was in hospital before he was produced in court on Sunday.
A search has been launched to try and get him back in custody.
