MLAs attend orientation programme in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Ministers and MLAs from Meghalaya attended an orientation programme for newly elected members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST) in Parliament in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The MLAs, both new and old, were led by Speaker Donkupar Roy. Three Cabinet ministers namely AL Hek (I&PR, Health), Hamletson Dohling (Urban Affairs, IT and Communications) and Samlin Malngiang (PHE) were present in the programme.
Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma could not attend the function but his newly elected daughter and wife attended the programme. The three-day event will conclude on Friday.
Roy told the gathering that such programme by BPST will help all legislators, especially the newly elected ones.
“In fact, such training programmes should be organised more frequently both in Delhi and in the states,” he added.
(Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology SS Ahluwalia and Honorary Advisor, BPST, Raghunandan Sharma in their speech welcomed the legislators and said more such programmes will be held in future.
The legislators will meet Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in Parliament later. Officials from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly were accompanying the team.
