SHILLONG: The battle for the by-poll in Ranikor and South Tura is building up with all political parties starting their campaign in the two constituencies though the pace is yet to pick up.
Talking to media persons on Thursday, senior leader of NPP Prestone Tynsong said as far as South Tura is concerned, “We will make sure that the chief minister sails through in the election and all coalition partners are united on this.”
He also said the party would soon meet to discuss about the by-poll even as he informed that leaders are already on the ground in Tura for campaigning.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters that he had already started his campaigning for the by-poll.
“I have other responsibility as well so after finishing my work, I will be back to Tura and we are hoping for the best,” Sangma said.
Regarding by-poll in Ranikor, Tynsong said MM Danggo, who resigned recently, will also sail through in the by-poll easily, adding that there is no unity among the opposition parties and their votes will be divided.
He also alleged that Ranikor is far behind in comparison to Ampati because of former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and he did not help Ranikor even when he was the chief minister for eight years.
