UDP nominee files papers for Ranikor, none in Tura

MAWKYRWAT/ TURA: UDP candidate Pius Marwein on Saturday filed his nomination papers to contest the August 23 Ranikor by-poll.
Marwein submitted his papers to Returning Officer W Biam at the office of the deputy commissioner in Mawkyrwat.
Till date, four candidates have filed their nominations. Marwein will have to contest the election against five-time MLA and NPP candidate MM Danggo, former chief executive member of the KHADC and PDF candidate PN Syiem and former student leader and Congress candidate Jackiush K Sangma who have already filed their nomination papers on Friday.
No nominations were filed on Day 6 for the South Tura by-poll with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Congress candidate Charlotte W Momin in fray so far.
Independent candidate Kris Kabul A Sangma who was slated to file his papers failed to turn up. He is expected to do so on Monday, the last day for filing papers. Former MLA John Leslee is also expected to file his nomination on Monday.
