Attempted fraud
Prof. Rakesh Mohan, Director, UGC, Human Resource Development Centre, NEHU, Shillong lodged a complaint that on August 6, he received a phone call from one person who identified himself as one Rahul Agarwal and asked him about his ATM details. However, the complainant did not provide his ATM details, sensing that the person was trying to fraudulently cheat him.
Theft
Silvia Hriroutmawi Fahriam Tusing lodged a complaint that on August 6 around 10.30 am, one unidentified person went to her house at Sawlad, Madanrting, Shillong, on the pretext to sell DSLR camera and later he stole one cell-phone and fled away.
Clement Sangriang (68) lodged a complaint that on August 5, unknown miscreants broke into his residence at Banglangpluh village under Mawshynrut PS and stole Rs. 67,000/-.
Salbath M Marak lodged a complaint that on August 1, unknown miscreants stole his motorcycle from his residence at Monupara village.
One killed as vehicle overturns
On August 5 around 3:30 pm, a tempo (ML-14-1302) capsized on the road at Debajani village (SWGH). As a result, the driver and some occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to CHC Mahendraganj, where one of the injured victim viz., Arbiush T Sangma (24), succumbed to his injuries. Necessary formalities were observed.
12-year-old abducted
Md. Moin of Ladrymbai Dongwah (EJH) lodged a complaint that on August 1, unknown persons abducted his daughter aged 12 years.
Woman threatened
A woman of Sohryngkham (EKH) lodged a complaint that on June 9, 2018, her boyfriend Aman Passah took Rs. 16,000 from her and when the complainant asked to return the money, he threatened to harm her. Further, the accused posted indecent remarks about her in the social media with intent to cause hurt and tarnish her reputation.
