DC reviews scheme implementation at meeting

TURA: Calling for better coordination among all the line departments for better delivery of services in the district, South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S convened a day-long District Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting in Ampati on Tuesday.
The meeting reviewed the status of implementation of various State and Central schemes and programmes by various departments including MGNREGS, National Food Security Mission, National Health Mission, NRLM, PMGSY, PMEGP, Aquaculture Mission, Apiculture Mission, Mission Organic, Mid Day Meal, Integrated Watershed projects, Irrigation projects, Tourism projects and skill development programmes, among others.
As such the DCC provides a platform to discuss various departmental and inter-departmental issues and problems that can be addressed at the district level, he said.
During the discussions, Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned departments to see how the district can leverage on the certification after completion of Mission Organic and also suggested that MGNREGS, IBDLP and NRLM be converged with Horticulture for Jackfruit Mission once it is implemented in the district.
Regarding Health department, he expressed his concern over low institutional delivery and called for greater motivation of health workers to bring pregnant mothers to health centres for institutional delivery.
The department was also asked to have good coordination with Education department for greater success of all vaccination programmes.
Issue of low pass percentage in SSLC exams in the district was also discussed . In view of the success of fishery in the district, the department suggested that it should start looking at the possibility of exporting fish to Assam considering that the district was self sufficient in local fish production.
The ongoing projects of PWD (Building) including construction of Engineering College, District & Sessions Court, Science & Commerce College, etc was also reviewed.
Meanwhile, the BDOs of the district were also asked to have their respective block-wise convergent meetings and any proposals made by them were to be sent to the Deputy Commissioner.
