SHILLONG: The High Level Committee (HLC) constituted by the State Government to find a solution to the issue of relocation of Punjabi Lane (Them ïew Mawlong) has directed the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) to re-start the inventorisation in the colony
Talking to media persons after the meeting of the HLC, chairman of the Committee, Prestone Tynsong said that the government was very much concerned about the employees who have been staying in the area for the past many years even as he added that altogether 128 employees of the Board were staying there in the colony
Earlier during the survey conducted by the SMB, most of the households in the colony were closed .Tynsong further informed that the committee has also directed concerned departments to furnish more documents relating to the matter.
“ We will have the next meeting after all the documents are furnished by the concerned departments,” he said while adding that departments like Directorate of land record and survey, urban affairs, municipal board and Hima Mylliem,
Refusing to give any further comment by citing that the matter is pending before the Court, the deputy chief minister, however, said, “We want to ensure that the task entrusted to us by the government is completed.”
Earlier, the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) had filed a petition in the High Court of Meghalaya seeking quashing of a notification related to the formation of a High Level Committee (HLC) by the State Government.
The Meghalaya High Court has asked the Meghalaya government to file reply affidavit to a petition filed by the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) which sought quashing of a notification related to the formation of a High Level Committee (HLC) to find solution to the long pending demand to shift settlers from Them ïew Mawlong, a commercial area in the city.
