SHILLONG: The meeting of the High Level Committee on Sweepers’ Lane issue will resume from Thursday.
An official source said on Wednesday that the records of the land survey carried out by the department concerned will be examined by the panel.
According to the source, after the survey it was found that some land belonged to the Syiem of Mylliem, others to the Municipal Board and the third category of land did not belong to either body.
The source added that since the authorities could not carry out the enumeration of inventory at Punjabi Lane, the government will urge the minority commission to issue orders for the government to complete its task as during the enumeration in the past, the houses were found locked.
The matter will come up for hearing on September 13 before the minority commission.
The government had also replied to the National Human Rights Commission as the panel had sought response on the matter.
A case filed by the Harijan Panchayat Committee is also pending with the High Court of Meghalaya.
