Woes of Independence Day
Independence Day is quite colorless to me !
I never enjoyed any sort of independence,
Neither in movement, nor in speech!
My heart bleeds and revolts! I can’t speak,
Freely that I desire! My safety at stake, if
I open my tight mouth. I doubt, if I am a
Citizen of Independent country like India?
I learnt, the great poet Tagore said, —
True Independence is that,
“Where the mind is without fear
And the head is held high’’ —
Could our country achieve that Independence?
Since a child, I know only restrictions!
And ‘Don’t’s on my every movement!
Why should I not fight bravely against
Those beastly creatures, who robbed
Away me on my way to school !
Who pierced my tender body of thirteen
With their heinous brutely, clutches !
And threw my body to a dustbin !
But I did not die — A dog rescued me !
When I regained my senses —
I heard, I am lost ! I am raped !
My beloved mother even uttered with cry —
“It was better, if she would die” ! —
I did not die, but bearing pang and pains
More, more than death ! I am raped !
‘It’s a social crime’ ! Everybody points at me
As if, I am a criminal ! But may I ask —
Where is my fault ? When a mad dog bites
A passer, is it fault of that innocent victim ?
Then, where is justice ? Why justice failed ?
Why the culprits are not sternly punished ?
Why girls like me should suffer unbearable
Pain of hatred from our own society ?
Why movement of girls are not safe and secured
In the Independent country like India ?
Would the country leaders please reply ?
I am an unfortunate teen-ager raped girl!
Independence Day is colourless to me!

The deep blue sea
The sea is calm, but mysterious, like the sky,
Which gives her the deep blue hue,
She stretches her thousand arms as waves,
To embrace the sand on her shore,
She feels like a lonely mother,
Craving for her child’s love,
She takes with her, little shells,
As toys for her playful children!
Each time, she retreats with some sand,
Trying to be pacified in their company,
She longs to be with her children, so dear,
Hence lashes again with utter despair,
The cruel rocks hurt her loving fingers,
But she bears all the pain with a sigh,
The tides rise or fall with her mood,
Yet, there is no answer to her endless cries!

Moving on
As we move on to the new locale,
Oh! The beauty of mountains
the tender splash of falls
The abode of clouds,
Will reside in my heart
The greenery between the hills
Will capture in my eyes.
This heavenly place
Gonna touch my soul
Hoping to feel its beauty again
I am moving on
With all its sweet memories
Along with some touch of pain.

You danced to my sadness
You danced to my sadness fuelling drops of fire
on unlucky luck showered abundantly
writing emotional history
diving into pond of tolerance, bottomless
but, as deep as my tears…….
Loved your tricky mirth because it was yours
it breathed in your lips breeding
countless sadness in me deeply rooted in your glee.
Helpless though in nature of love
I sow seeds of faith
I plant trees of unification
watching the same old dance to confirm my stand
on humanity, on selfless selves in this vast sky
that encourage me to love doves
paired to long for endless contentment..
