Public help sought by police to trace deceased woman’s kin

TURA: North Garo Hills Police are on the lookout for the family of a 25-year-old woman from Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills, who died recently at the Tura Civil Hospital.

According to a release issued by district SP, Dr S R Marak, a woman identified as Sapna M Sangma from Patalgittim in Nongalbibra was brought to the Mendipathar police station after the sordar of Domeanti village under the same police station informed them that she was wandering aimlessly in their village. The woman was sent for a medical examination at Resubelpara CHC where she was briefly admitted and later referred to the Tura Civil Hospital.

In the meantime, police were making drastic efforts to trace her relatives, when they were informed by the police booth at the hospital on August 17 that the woman had expired and her dead body was being kept at the hospital morgue for identification and claiming.

With the family yet to be traced, police have urged anyone knowing the deceased woman to come forward and give information. All concerned who can identify the dead body have also been requested to contact the OC of Mendipathar PS on- 8731960124/9402396444 and the PCR of North Garo Hills DEF on- 7005268694.
