Devastating fire destroys a house at Paltanbazar in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: An old house was razed to the ground in a devastating fire that broke out at the residence of one Saurabh Sengupta near Meghdoot Cinema at Paltanbazar area in the city on late Thursday night. Though person was injured in the fire, which was suspected to be sparked by an electrical short circuit, the entire house was devastated.  The fire assumed an alarming proportion after two LPG cylinders kept in the house exploded, police said. Seven fire tenders were engaged by the state fire service department to douse the inferno as well as to arrest it from spreading to other parts of the area.
