SHILLONG: Tura is a small and congested town with hardly much space for parking of vehicles but many people in the town often park their vehicles on the roadside at night.
Speaking on the matter, West Garo Hills DC, Ram Singh said that he has received several complaints about the parking of the vehicles on the road side.
Stating that there are no requirements for additional parking lots in the city, he added that the problem cropped up as some people who do not have proper parking space buy vehicles and then park their vehicles on the roadside.
It was also seen that the MUDA parking lot which is constructed in the town most of the time remains vacant with few vehicles and even the DC admitted that very few people use the parking lot.
The Deputy Commissioner maintained that he would take up the matter of people parking their vehicles on the roadside at night once the election process in the district is over.
