GUWAHATI: Under an ambitious plan, to improve the overall cleanliness of stations, N F Railway has decided to introduce mechanised cleaning system in 359 stations before 2nd October, 2018.
The N.F. Railway has total 547 stations, out of which 127 are Halt stations (stations without platforms). Out of balance 420 stations, 22 stations are presently have mechanised cleaning system. Twenty-seven stations are being cleaned through manual contract and 371 stations are being cleaned by Station Master by engaging local agencies being paid from cash imprest, according to the CPRO, P J Sharma.
Tender have been floated already covering all the stations under five divisions of N.F. Railway. Under the mechanised cleaning system, stations will be cleaned by using machineries like Flipper Sweeping Machine, Single Disc Scrubber, High pressure water jet cleaner, Commercial Wet & Dry Vacuum cleaner, Auto Scrubber Dryer Floor Cleaning and Mopping Machine etc.
Some of the stations where new mechanised cleaning system are going to be introduced are: Chaparmukh, Diphu, Hojai, Jagiroad, Lanka, Ambasa, Bishalgarh, Bishramganj, Churaibari, Haibargaon, Hailakandi, Jirania, Kumarghat, Mahur, Nagaon, New Halflong, New Karimganj, Narangi, Silghat Town, Teliamura, Udaipur, Dibrugarh Town, Duliajan, Jorhat Town, Tinsukia, Nazira, Sivsagar Town, Barpeta Road, Goalpara Town, Murkongselek, North Lakhimpur, Rangapara North, Silapathar, Azara, Boko, Dekargaon, Gumto, Jogighopa, Mendipathar, Nalbari, Biswanath Chariali, Jogbani, Raiganj, Siliguri Jn, Purnia Jn, Aluabari Road, Balurghat, Forbeshganj, Jalpaiguri, Arariya, Bagdogra, Kumedpur, Old Malda, Siliguri Town, Thakurganj, Dhubri, New Mal Jn, Coochbehar, Malbazar, etc.
Once the contracts are awarded and become fully operational; the entire aspect of cleanliness at stations and approaches in entire N.F. Railway are expected to witness a sea change.
