City cabbies violating MV Act

Shillong: SP (Traffic) East Khasi Hills on Thursday informed that city based taxi drivers are refusing to ply commuters and rural taxis are plying in Shillong City limits violating sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The SP has advised commuters not to board rural (White and Green) taxis for destinations within the city limits and to report refusal to pick up passengers to the relevant traffic branches.
“Violation of any section of the MV Act is punishable by imprisonment or a fine depending on the offence committed by the cabbie”, the SP said.
