TURA: Customers went through harrowing experiences in Garo Hills on Monday which also happened to be a national holiday as most ATMs in Tura remained closed.
Even the largest bank in the region, the State Bank of India, failed to live up to people’s expectations with some of its ATMS including the ATM located outside its regional office in Chnadmari remaining shut.
To make matters worse, customers who utilized the services of the IndusInd bank ATM at Nakham Bazar found that they had been underpaid at the kiosk.
“I went to take out 1500 rupees but the IndusInd ATM released only Rs 1100, a shortage of 400 rupees.”
“However, the paper receipt given by the ATM showed I had been deducted 1500.”
“This is a case of fraud,” an angry employee of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council said.
He has decided to move the banking officials against this glaring deduction from his account.
