Programme against drug abuse and illegal trafficking held

NONGSTOIN: The office of the Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with the office of the Superintendent of Police, the District Medical and Health Officer Office along with the members of the KSU Nongstoin circle organised a programme to fight against drug abuse and illegal trafficking in TRYSEM Hall, in the Deputy Commisioner’s office, Nongstoin recently.
A thorough discussion on the matter took place at the conference hall of the DC’s office Nongstoin which was attended by the district administration, local MLA, the DM&HO, church leaders, headmen under Nongstoin town areas and Syiem of Hima Nongstoin, where a resolution was taken to constitute a Committee to undertake activities preventing the menace of drugs, empowering the narcotic cell in Nongstoin.
It also constituted a committee against drug abuse and illicit trafficking comprising of the Deputy Commissiner as the Chairman, the Superintendent of Police as the Vice Chairman, local MLA as the ex-officio member and seven members from various departments including the VDO and the headmen. It was attended by a large gathering including church leaders, colleges and school teachers, local youth and village elders.
