GUWAHATI: The district sessions court in Nagaon of Assam on Friday awarded death sentence to one Zakir Hussain, accused in rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl at Batadrawa in Nagaon district of Assam on March 23 this year. The gruesome incident occurred at Dhaniabheti Lalung Gaon at Batadrawa.
He was awarded life sentence under POCSO Act for rape and death sentence for murder of the rape victim who was burnt to death, according to one of the prosecution counsels. Two other minor boys, who were accomplices of Zakir, were sent to Jorhat Reform Home by the juvenile justice court.
