Teachers’ Day celebrated

Nongpoh/Tura: Along with the rest of the country, the office of the District School Education Officer together with the office of Sub Divisional School Education Officer Ri Bhoi District on Wednesday observed the 57th Teachers Day celebration in a function held at Parish Hall, Nongpoh.
Local MLA, Mayralborn Syiem graced the function as the chief guest in presence of DSEO, VS Nongbet and SDSEO, S Kharsahnoh.
Speaking at the function, Mayralborn Syiem said that ‘teachers are the builders of the nation, they really deserve to be honored, adding that in this era of science and technology it is also important for the teachers to keep themselves updated with time while imparting knowledge to the students.
Three teachers and two best scouts and guide captain received the district award during the celebration of their selfless service rendered towards shaping and moulding the students to become better citizens of the nation.

The Rotary Club of Tura on Wednesday paid a visit to Ringre Gittim LP School and distributed games and sports accessories to the students of the school, as part of its observance of the 57th Teachers’ Day celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Rotary Club President, Raju P Marak explained to the students the significance of the day and the importance of teachers and the role that they play in the lives of students.
He said that teachers are responsible for what and how students learn every day in the classroom and that their encouragement and nurturing helps them to do their best and reach their goals.
Small gifts were also presented to the teachers.
