GUWAHATI: Assam police have claimed to have arrested two ULFA (Independent) militants, Dipankar Bora and Mamon Dihingia in connection with killing of officer-in-charge of Bordumsa police station in Tinsukia district, Bhaskar Kalita on May 4 night during an encounter with militants.
The young police officer was leading a CRPF Cobra team to raid house in a village near Assam-Arunachal boundary acting on information about presence militants in the house. He was killed during heavy exchange of fire with ULFA militants while one of the militants too got killed.
The officer who was wearing a bullet proof jacket, receive nine bullets and post mortem report later revealed that two of the nine bullets pierced through the bullet proof jacket raising efficacy of the jacket.
Assam home department later ordered an inquiry into find out the issue over the bullet proof jackets that were procured during the previous Congress regime in the state.
